Fresh off the release of her 4th album Can’t Stop Falling (Pacific Music / Warner Music Canada), Vancouver singer/songwriter Laurell, the CHUM Radio’s Emerging Artist has been quickly rising up the Canadian radio charts, and her hit single Can’t Stop Falling recently entered the Top 30 on HOT AC and has been added into regular rotation on radio stations across the country.
After participating in the reality show Canadian Idol and being dubbed the “Vancouver Idol”, Laurell has been steadily making a name for herself within the Canadian music scene. Among her many accolades and accomplishments, Laurell was the 2007 winner of the We Are Listening singer/songwriter award, a 2007 nominee for Outstanding Pop Album at the Western Canadian Music Awards, 2008 winner of the MSN/Sympatico inDiscover.net independent artist search and most notably, she took the top spot in the 2010 CHUM Radio’s Emerging Indie Artist Initiative.
Laurell’s latest album “Can’t Stop Falling” (Pacific/Warner) recently won a 2010 Western Canadian Music Award for Pop Recording of the Year; the album’s title track winning CHUM Radio’s Emerging Indie Artist Initiative and sky-rocketing to the top #10 on Canadian radio charts. The track became one of the most-played CANCON songs of 2010 (over 87 million listeners), landing her at #23 on the overall Emerging Canadian Billboard Chart for the entire year. A profound writer, many of Laurell’s original tunes have been featured on shows including MTV’s “The Real World”, NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”, CMT’s “Meet The Wilsons”, and MuchMusic’s “Degrassi”. Most recently Laurell has been nominated for TWO Canadian radio music awards and an "indie" (Canadian Independent Award) for Pop Artist of the Year.
Laurell will also be playing a coveted spot in Barrie during their Earth Hour Music Festival. The third annual festival, which saw over 6000 people in 2010, is a free concert event showcasing some of the best names in music to spread awareness of global climate change initiatives.
